President's Letter
Alan D. Holtz

Dear AIRA Members:
Spring is here, and that means our Annual Conference is just around the corner. This year we will convene in Chicago on June 6-9, at the Westin Chicago River North. As always, the schedule is full with the excellent learning opportunities for which AIRA is known and with lots of enjoyable social and networking activities for our members, speakers and sponsors.
For those interested in detailed programs on bankruptcy taxation or bankruptcy litigation, there will be a full day of concurrent sessions on these topics on Wednesday, June 6. These preconference sessions provide an excellent opportunity for bankruptcy practitioners to round out their skill sets and take a “deep dive” into two complex and important areas, and those participating will enjoy a lunchtime speaker, Diane Swonk, one of the most sought after economists in the world. CIRA Part I is also being offered for three days preconference starting on Monday, June 4.
The conference officially kicks off with an opening reception on Wednesday at 6:30pm. The schedule of panel sessions runs all day Thursday and on Friday and Saturday mornings, and it includes many of today’s hot topics and leading experts to impart us with their wisdom. Thursday evening will be a big night, with our Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony and further opportunities to socialize with food and drink at pre- and post-dinner events. Former White House Chief of Staff and Secretary of Transportation, Samuel Skinner, is sure to provide an interesting perspective as our keynote speaker. Professor Jack Williams, AIRA’s first Scholar-in-Residence will address the group over lunch on Friday.
Of course, there is a full complement of social activities for all who attend the conference and their guests, whether interested in golf or real exercise, major league baseball or sightseeing, afternoon tea or fabulous wine.
Further information and registration materials can be found on our website at www.airacira.org. I hope to see many of you in Chicago in June!
Warm regards,
Alan D. Holtz
President
